The details for Global Security Week 2008 have been finalised and yesterday saw us distribute a press release announcing the theme for this year’s event.  Global Security Week 2008 will run from September the 8th until September the 14th with the theme for this year being “Cybercrime – Don’t Become a Victim”.

As per previous years we will host a free seminar here in Dublin with some key speakers addressing the theme.  More details on this will follow as speakers and the venue are confirmed.

There will also be events in other countries and last year saw involvement by many organisations running their own events inhouse or sponsoring seminars.  We also are grateful for the support given to us last year by various bodies such as OWASP, local chapters of the ISSA and ISACA.

This year we are very happy to see that LSEC (Leaders in Security), a not for profit organization that has the objective to promote Information Security and the expertise in Flanders and Belgium, is participating for the first time this year.

We will also be running a Blog up to and during Global Security Week.  If you cannot contribute offline then please feel free to take part via the blog.

Those interested in participating in Global Security Week are asked to register at http://www.globalsecurityweek.com. Involvement is welcomed from individuals, groups or companies wishing to participate by organising security awareness activities during the week, and encouraging links to the global campaign using free promotional images. Global Security Week will gladly promote these activities on the Global Security Week website free of charge.
